Affinity
What is Affinity?
Affinity is the modeled strength of fit between a person and an item, derived from perception before responsiveness, so systems can rank by what will resonate rather than by popularity or recency.
Affinity is the modeled strength of fit between a person and an item. It is derived from perception before responsiveness, and that order is deliberate. Perception captures how something is understood on grounded scales; responsiveness captures how a person tends to react. Modeling perception first lets the system estimate fit for items and people it has never seen interact.
Ranked by affinity, results are ordered by what will resonate, not by what is merely popular, recent, or frequently clicked. That is the difference between a technically correct recommendation and one that feels right.
